Gainesboro Poke Sallet Festival 2016

Image
This post has nothing to do with sewing... just a day in the life!   Last weekend there was a festival in our little town. I took my youngest daughter and the camera for a tour around the square. I've wanted to take some photos of local shops for quite some time now.. and I just don't usually have the camera with me, when I have had the chance to look around. I took this opportunity to practice some photography. My hubby gave me his camera when he updated to new equipment and I am very slowly picking up how to use it. I've used it in auto mode for some time now, but I'm trying out more of the functions now. Its nothing spectacular but I'm learning and I have fun! I've recently been playing with the white balance. First stop was the Pickett Fence (an antiques and more place)  The owner of the Pickett Fence is always painting anything and everything. Here she's painted coordinating things in peaches and turquoises. No doubt for the Summer season...

Rainy Monday

Image
Supposedly we were going to get snow, but its rained all day instead. And I'm just blogging for no reason in particular, other than maybe I felt like it :-) Thought I'd show what I'm up to. I'm usually up to something, but I don't always take the time to post. Not that there's a whole lot going on right now... I do need to start on some custom orders, maybe I'll get some of them cut out this evening. I want to be pattern designing, but I've working on a few personal projects and baby shower gifts. The baby shower gifts are burp cloths and blankets, my usual. I don't have photos of them yet though.. I do have a picture or two of the pajamas though. I cut these out before Christmas and wanted to have them finished by then. But guess what? That didn't quite happen... I started matching PJ's for my girls, and then cut a duplicate pair of 4's for a friend. Said friend has no idea about them, but her sister does :-)   I'm making some...

Off the Wagon

Image
I feel terrible. This is the worst case I've had of falling off the wagon with my blog yet! Its been terribly lacking of late and its all my fault! I've tried to be steady and have a few posts every month, but this last 2 months I've failed.. or not even tried. September and October were full of nothingness on the blog :-( I've been out of it! I'm not like most bloggers who pour everything they have into their blog. But I've definitely tried to be somewhat consistent this year. Epic fail!  T hings that have happened since I left my blogging world are, that I've started in the journey of homeschooling. Just getting started of course, and I've lots to learn! But with my Mother having schooled 9 at home, and my Mother-in-love having schooled 7 at home, I have awesome role models to look to :-) My oldest daughter just turned 4 years old! She's such a big, beautiful, sweet girl. Granted she picks on her little sister a good deal, but I do find myself s...

Tuesday

Image
3 pictures from today...  Today I went searching through my fabric boxes that hold small pieces of swim fabrics. Earlier this Summer I took the opportunity to buy some (okay, many) factory sample fabrics. Some were 1/2yd - full yard pieces, and others were less than half yards. This white box in the picture is the latter. Small pieces. I received these fabrics, many of them, but with almost no matches. All different! I figured these would be great for making girl's scrunchy tops and posting them for sale. * I won't include these in fabric options for custom made things. (it would simply take far too much time to take a couple hundred pictures, of these fabrics that don't have any quantity to speak of.)   I was looking for a print with red in it. I was hoping to find something to make a swim top to match my Toddler's red swim bottoms. I came up with these. (okay, so these weren't the only prints I found with red in them... these were just what I fel...

Working long and hard!

Image
Its been crazy around here lately! I've not posted on the blog this whole month! Near the end of this month I'm going to do a big post with all the pictures of all the projects I've done this month. I'm going to be like: "This is why you've not heard anything from me this month!" So yes, really busy around here!  I'm sharing this (that I also just wrote on my FB wall) because its easy to copy and paste!!! And I know y'all will understand that the reason I'm tired is because I've been up late working on orders lol! So enjoy the following little story from my life....    We're (or more specifically, *I'm wiped out) I was trying to rest after staying up late on Monday and Tuesday night, but Miriam was going to see to it that I didn't get my rest.  So last night, we get home, and Miriam had fallen asleep in the vehicle right before 8pm. No big deal.. just put her to bed. I laid down on the couch thinking I'd get a little re...

Random photos of random life :-)

Image
Among my sewing pictures I have found these random pictures that I just feel like posting to the blog...  :-)  I thought this one was pretty... and I didn't even look through the viewer! It was just a test shot before using the camera :-) My recent thread haul from the fabric store. I waited for the sale!!! :-) I will be back for the next big sale in September! Woo hoo!! Pajama pants I made for a friend's little boy (on the left), and a pair for my daughter (on the right) My Marigolds Just playing with the new camera lens :-)  This is a makeshift wreath I made out of an old curtain. Its a really large rolled rosette. The flower itself measures about 13" across. I put it on my front door. If anyone cares to know how I did this, I can show pics :-) 3  A friend ordered a suit from me and she was sooo pleased with it that she sent me this in the mail :-) So sweet!  I gave Jubilee a treat for being such a per...
