Weekend get away

Image
I know I promised to have this up a week ago (or at least I said so on my Facebook Fan Page) and I'm sorry.. life has been more than a little busy. I think I'm going to start scheduling my posts and just write a few at a time, when I feel like it, and my brain is in blogging mode.  I promised to show you some of what my weekend looked like...a few weeks ago. So here it is. (and I promise I'm going to do better with blogging!)  You wouldn't think that we'd take a weekend get away at my inlaw's house would you? ;-) No, we just went for a visit, but it sure felt like a get away. When I go to my in law's home, they go out of their way to make us feel at home. My Mother-in-love many times, insists that I don't help cook or clean... and she holds the baby while I sew! That's right, she lets me bring my sewing machine and clears room for me at the kitchen table. I know right? All my crafting/sewing buddies have my permission to be terribly jealous!...

Maternity Scrunch Top (new pictures)

Image
I've not had pictures taken of this style since October 2011. I should have gotten some more during my second pregnancy but apparently I was busy with other things...? Yep, that happens :-)   Fortunately I have friends who after much badgering, (not really) consent to modeling swimwear for me. Which is awesome! Here are some new photos of the Maternity Scrunch Top....     This top was made for a customer of mine, Beth. The bottoms pictured belong to my model, Tasha. I made them for her in 2011.  Very nice detailed shot of the rouching, or *scrunching* as everyone is calling it :-) ~ Lovely ~ I continue to take orders for these, and people keep loving them :-) I Have 5 waiting for me to make them up now. Woohoo! Lots of lovely mama's getting pretty suits. Love it! I am blessed and my customers tell me that it is a blessing for me to make it for them. Thank you all for your support and for allowing me to do what it is I love to ...

Trash to Treasure

Who doesn't have an old pair of jeans with holes in the knees? Well, in this case the jeans did not have holes in the knees, they were just too short :-( I had this pair of jeans that I LOVED but they were always too short. So recently I decided to turn them into shorts! Why not? I did, after all, need a pair of denim shorts :-) They also had a stain on them, so I decided to put some applique flowers over that. Okay, I'm lying.. I was going to put the flowers on there no matter if there was a stain or not lol! Its a fun and easy project! I am feeling most brilliant at the moment :-) I have a pair of shorts now! Yay!!!  Not the easiest thing to do to take a picture of yourself modeling clothes :-)

What I'm here for...

I am inspired to write on alternative modest swimwear. I received an email from a young lady (16) who told me she was tired of walmart bathing suits. Its hard to find modest swimwear she told me, and who wants to wear a t-shirt over their suit? Nobody does. Sometimes we think its just sooo hard to find anything modest! Well that can be true, but its really not that hard if you just know where to look. And I'll get to that in a moment..  Another thing is that everyone has their own sense of style. Some may not like my style, and there are other people out there who make modest swimwear. Maybe you prefer their style over mine? That's just fine. And everyone's sense of what is modest is different too. There are places like LLBean, and Lands End which provide more coverage than some places. And there are people who are perfectly happy with those. What I want to tell you about today is something you may not have realized. And that is that you can find a modest swim shirt...pro...

Bum Balm for Babies *All natural*

Image
On Sunday I got a baby bum balm from a frie nd. She sent it over when she heard baby had a bad rash. I actually haven't used this on baby's bum yet. I already had some coconut oil and lavender that I was using up. But when I opened this, I was holding baby in my arms, and I was looking down at her head, which was flaking terribly. I figured it couldn't hurt to put it on her scalp, so I did. I'd tried lotions previously, and they'd not made much improvement. But the very next day after putting the balm on, baby's scalp was 85% better. I've used it twice more on her head and you can't tell that there was a problem to begin with.    So, if you're looking for an all natural bum balm that is cloth diaper safe, you might try Laurel's  Yellowbee Baby Balm . I did say all natural. Its simply, organic coconut oil, organic bees wax, and essential oils.

Pattern Workshop by Lauren Dahl

I bought this program today. Yeah..I know! *Yikes* It scares me, it really does...all of the many things I have no idea how to do when it comes to digital patterns. I had been hoping to hire someone to help me create pdf patterns. I was just wishing it would help me take a shortcut to producing patterns quickly, but it looks as though I should jump in and learn it myself. :sigh: If I plan to produce more than 1 or 2, then it would be best if I just learned how to the whole process myself. I know people have asked for patterns repeatedly, and believe me, I want to share them as much as you'd like to have them! Here's what I hope will lead me to where I want to be. Pattern Workshop   Now, I've only watched the introduction and signed up for emails...still waiting to be added to the facebook support group. It really does look awesome. Pray for me! I need some confidence! I also signed up to be part of their affiliate team so, there's a link below the photo, and ...
