3 pictures from today...



 Today I went searching through my fabric boxes that hold small pieces of swim fabrics. Earlier this Summer I took the opportunity to buy some (okay, many) factory sample fabrics. Some were 1/2yd - full yard pieces, and others were less than half yards. This white box in the picture is the latter. Small pieces. I received these fabrics, many of them, but with almost no matches. All different! I figured these would be great for making girl's scrunchy tops and posting them for sale. *I won't include these in fabric options for custom made things. (it would simply take far too much time to take a couple hundred pictures, of these fabrics that don't have any quantity to speak of.) 


 I was looking for a print with red in it. I was hoping to find something to make a swim top to match my Toddler's red swim bottoms. I came up with these. (okay, so these weren't the only prints I found with red in them... these were just what I felt like at the moment :-) Funny how picking fabric can be determined by what your mood is lol!) I was having a difficult time deciding, but someone in my craft group said stripes may look boyish. Another commented that they liked the floral print. So I think I'm going with that one. But someone else also suggested putting a bow on the striped top. That could be cute too. Decisions, decisions... Feel free to give an opinion on it if you like :-)


 I was also blessed to be able to de-stash the fabrics I would not use. The middle package was an order, but the priority packages were fabric that I re-sold and sent out today! :-) So awesome! Very thankful! 

In all honesty, its been a long 3 weeks.. and its going to get longer :sigh: This is keeping me going tonight... Streaming music from Way-FM Christian Radio Station.

A fitted bodice with a drop scoop waist. Attached to an a-line skirt which is very flattering and has such flair! The spandex pants beneath are separate and have an elastic waist band. Pictures below are in order from newest to oldest. I have many of these so I'm just choosing a few. Training Pants (tutorial)

When I started potty training my nearly 2 year old, I went in search of training panties. I had been using cloth diapers before hand, and had tried using those for starters but they didn't work too well for potty training. I'd heard of the plastic covers and such, or trainers that had a layer of PUL in them. But I really didn't want those; I was in search of the old fashioned kind, like the Gerber ones that were made from white cloth and didn't have a plastic lining. Turns out, they're no longer just in white, but come in various prints and can be found at Walmart. That's where I found the ones I bought. They ran about $9.00 for 3 pair. My first thought was that I could make them rather than buy them. I searched for a pattern and tutorial online. I found both, but in separate locations. Types of Swimwear Fabric

First off I have to tell you, I am very picky about quality in swimwear fabric. How it feels, stretches, even what color it is on the back. (imagine that) I'll explain that a little later...  Now I can't always remember which technical names I'm looking for when I'm searching swimwear fabric on the internet, but I've got to be sure I'm looking at the right thing. Its not like I can touch it and immediately know that I've got the right stuff. I know words like nylon, spandex, lycra, and polyester, and even cotton are thrown around. I know enough to stay away from anything that says cotton-lycra on the label. When I was growing up swimwear fabric was simply called LYCRA.  But these days so much clothing is made from stretch fabrics and the word LYCRA is in everything stretchy.
